Panafood Lake .

Are color lakes for the food industry. A lake is a water soluble food color precipitated from aluminum hydrate resulting in insoluble products with pigment characteristics. Compared to the water soluble dyes they are made of, lakes have a higher light fastness. They have to be used in a pH range between 4 and 7.

Germacolor offers the whole range of aluminum lake food colors according to EU requirements for food colors.

With Panagen and Panalite Germacolor offers a wide range of organic and inorganic pigments in different qualities and price ranges. They are available as powder or liquid for water or solvent based systems.

Panagene are organic pigments based on carbon chains and rings, but they can also contain metallic elements to stabilize the characteristics of the organic compound.

Panalite are non-carbon based inorganic pigments, chemical compounds, usually metal salts precipitated from solutions.

Pigments are used in a wide variety of industries as well as in laques, printing colors, paint pigments and fillers in paper production. They are used for colored plastics, artists´ colors and colored pencils. Other applications are textile printing, cosmetics or the coloring of candles.

Thermochromatic colors are dyes with sensoric effects. Increasing temperature changes the optical properties of the dye. Black or colored dyes lose their coloration as soon as a certain temperature is reached and they become transparent. This process is reversible, as soon as the temperature sinks under the threshold, the colors resume their original state. These color changes are based on changes in molecular or crystalline structures.

The temperature range for a color change is between 5°C and 70°C + / - 2°C.
